Your Puppy's First Visits

Generally when you come to see us for your puppy's first visit we will discuss many things with you.  We will talk about behavior, eating patterns, play patterns, nail trimming and heartworm and flea prevention, just to name a few of our topics.  We like to make your first visit here longer so that we can get to know you and your new puppy.  We want to be sure to give them the best start we can!!  Many people have questions regarding a puppy's vaccine schedule.  Here is an overview of the vaccines and services  your puppy will receive over their first four months.  Remember these are just guidelines, our doctors may cater a plan specifically for your pet depending on their overall health and breed.  Usually, your puppy will require at least 3 visits to complete their puppy series of vaccines.

Your puppy's first visit may include: a distemper vaccination,  a bordetella vaccination, a fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites, deworming medication, we will show you how to trim your puppy's nails and we will start them on heartworm prevention.

Your puppy's second visit may include:  a distemper vaccination, a lyme disease vaccination, and heartworm prevention.

Your puppy's third visit may include:  a distemper vaccination, a lyme vaccination, a rabies vaccination, depending on the size of you puppy and how quickly we think they will grow--you may be sent home with a supply of heartworm prevention for six months up to one year.
