Veterinary Dentistry at Paradise Animal Hospital

Appropriate dental care is one of the most important and overlooked areas in pet health. More than 70% of cats and 80% of dogs show evidence of dental disease by the age of three, which can result in pain and infection if left untreated. Pet dental disease doesn’t affect just the mouth; it can also lead to more serious systemic problems involving the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Preventative care is the cornerstone of good dental health, and should be started within the first year of life. As in people, one of the best ways to maintain a healthy mouth in our pets is through regular tooth brushing. Tooth brushing works by removing plaque before it can calcify into tartar, and should be done daily to every other day to be effective. In additional to home dental care, pets need regular, professional dental evaluation and cleaning to maintain good oral health.

At Paradise Animal Hospital, we offer comprehensive dental care including dental scaling and polishing, root planing, dental radiographs, and dental extractions to help keep your pet’s mouth as healthy and comfortable as possible. If you are concerned about your pet’s teeth or have questions about the best ways to keep them healthy, please call our office and we would be happy to set up an appointment.
