Biography

Dr. Griffin grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Honors in Research, leading to a career as an analytical chemist. Shifting to pursue veterinary medicine, she was accepted into the dual PhD, DVM program at the University of Georgia, Athens, for an 8-year program combining a PhD dissertation in infectious disease focused on the 2009 swine flu, with her veterinary training and clinical rotations that spanned large, small and exotic animals. She is very passionate about birds and could talk for hours about her chickens. Her other interests include neurology, theriogenology, internal medicine, and of course infectious disease. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys gardening, puzzles, reading, horse-back riding and other outdoor activities. She shares her home with a rough collie named Coriander, two cats named Ky and Kovu, and her backyard belongs to the chickens.
